We’ve compiled most of the common questions we’ve got from leadership teams of startups and growth companies. To make it easier skim through, we’ve grouped them for you.

What makes us different?

What makes your technical interviews different and how does it benefit me?

This is one of the core USPs of PICWA Tech Recruitment, we’ve got a network of Tech Leaders that can interview candidates on behalf of you to check for technical competence.

This isn’t some random HackerRank test or a random Refactor Exercise. Instead, we work with you to design what should be covered in the technical interview and in accordance with the job role you’re looking for.

The idea is to replicate exactly what it is you would do internally and also be able to assess the exact same way. Saving you time with interviews but also giving us the ability to give you incredibly strong-fit candidates and hire rapidly.

Are these employees on my Payroll?

These full-time, dedicated engineers should be treated like any other full-time employee you’d hire at HQ. For PICWA to be able to issue benefits like healthcare and dental, as well as manage payroll and all of the other full-time benefits, we hire these individuals directly into the PICWA system and are the Employer of Record.

What happens if my direct hire via PICWA doesn’t work out?

If an employee you hire through PICWA doesn’t work out you may terminate their employment through issuing a notice period just as you would locally.

In the rare case that an employee isn’t a fit for your team, your PICWA HR Business Partner would help with the offboarding and transition of that employee and our recruiting team would then work with you to backfill that role at no additional cost.

What are your on-the-ground benefits to foster in-house capability?

PICWA provides on-the-ground HR partners to help with increasing engagement and retention of your employees, while also focusing on extending your cultural experience globally.

Your HR partner can organize frequent events such as lunch, employee outings, learning stipends, interest-based resource groups, eNPS Surveys, 1-1 check ups and much more.

Can I hire a full-time worker from PICWA and immigrate them locally?

Yes! We we’ve helped multiple companies in the past with this and are passionate about strengthening the local workforce. We will work with you to fully understand your specific requirements so that we can establish a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Can I open an office in an offshore location and have multiple employees work for my company there?

Yes, all within 2 weeks . If you'd like to establish an office in India or the Phillipines, our team can help you secure an office, equipment and fit-out the office in accordance with your brand. In addition to this, a full-time HR employee can be hired specifically for your company to extend your culture into these global locations.

How are you transparent?

Yes, we are. This is one of the things we take pride on. We’re not commission focused, we’re focused on long term business. Throughout your hiring journey, all testing platforms, interviews and exercise results are shared via those platforms with you. All our communications with candidates are also available upon request and we also abide by anti-slavery laws.

Where are you based?

We’re located in New Zealand and Australia for local recruitment and have global recruitment hubs in India and the Philippines.

Are you an outsourcing agency?

No, we’re anti-outsourcing. We’re a local and global tech recruitment agency. All hires are directly yours

Can we hire across multiple locations at once?

You sure can, each location has it's strengths and we'll work with you to distribute your team across locations based on your current and future tech stack.

How is Intellectual Property handled?

Who owns the legal rights to the work created by a global hire?

The client. PICWA’s only business is connecting world-class experts to the clients who want to work with them - not intellectual property. Our contracts provide that all work created by a PICWA hire is the property of the client, not PICWA.

How do we ensure that our IP is protected?

PICWA enters into talent agreements with every member of the talent network. Through these agreements, PICWA obtains exclusive ownership of the work created by the PICWA talent that works with you. We then provide you with the intellectual property for the work that the PICWA hire creates for you under our client agreement. This clean, simple, pass-through arrangement has worked well for our clients for many years. However, if you would like the expert to enter into a direct agreement with you to effect the direct transfer of IP property, we can work with you to ensure that your needs are met.

Are the devices the employees use secure?

Yes, if you choose for PICWA to provide devices. All devices are secured and maintained by our IT Support Engineers.

Can we send our own configured device to the global employees?

Yes and is quite popular with configuration or IP intensive companies. We’ve got a strong relationship with DHL and local customs and are able to have your hardware delivered within a week at the lowest available customs cost.

What are your pricing and payment terms?

How often will I be charged? How are payments and invoices handled?

We typically invoice our clients once a month in advance. Invoices are generated with Net 10 terms,though there is some flexibility here and we can accept Net 20 or Net 30 with adjusted invoicing.

Are there any upfront recruiting or contractual costs?

None at all. Since we’ve got a well-oiled recruitment process, we're ready to start sourcing for you straight away

What methods of payments do you accept?

We currently accept all local bank transfers in NZ, Australia, or major credit cards, ACH, and bank wires.

How much are your fees?

This varies but we typically charge between 8 to 15% of the employee’s salary.

Can we directly hire your candidates?

Yes, you may but only after 12 months. However, with our competitive pricing structure and HR partner benefits, our clients find that it is cost-effective and beneficial to stick with us for long-term for their global hires.

We’ve built a suite of custom software to achieve this. It helps with communicating with candidates personally at scale, screening candidates at scale, and also represents your company’s role and the company itself in an aligning light.

Since the launch of this suite, candidate’s and clients have praised our communication frequency, relevance with communication and happiness with the hiring process.

We typically invoice our clients one month prior to the start date of the selected candidate and the payment is due on joining date.

Are there any upfront recruiting or contractual costs?

We’ve got a well-oiled recruitment process, we're ready to start sourcing for you straight away but in the case that you want to use our proprietary software and in-house interviewers, we have an exclusivity agreement and a break-off fee if you decide to stop or pause recruitment for any reasons aside from not being able to find a good candidate.

To be frank, there is no point in engaging us for recruitment without using our proprietary software and in-house interviewers as we’re just like every other recruitment agency then.

What methods of payments do you accept?

We currently accept all local bank transfers in NZ, Australia, or major credit cards, ACH, and bank wires.

How much are your fees?

This doesn’t vary, we charge 13.5% of the employees salary.
